Hey you.
Yeah
you!
Wanna get a feature?
1. For each of the 10 first people to comment this journal they will get a feature in this journal with my top three favorite deviations in their gallery. I'll explain why I chose them as well.
2. If you answer you have to do the same in your journal, putting the tagger in the first slot. The idea of this is not to get a free feature, but to spread the art love around!

The first: Because it is a hilarious way to introduce a character. It also provides reference for how far you've come in almost two years. (Is very much wondering if more of these characters' story will be revealed here on dA...)
The second: Because it showcases your amazing way with character interaction in a scene. It's too sweet, and I just love how all characters involved are true to form in their reactions.
The third: Vahan. Shirtless. What more can I say? The old man's got a hot bod.

And Josianne's one sexy woman.

The first, is just too cute! The simple shading and monotone nature of it just let all of your attention go to the bittersweet story: boy resolves to tell girl he loves her, but the circumstances under which he tells her are sad. Wonderful use of expression and body language to convey the emotion. (Hint: If you've read this, and haven't looked at it yet- do it
now)
The second: what? Why are you asking this? How could I
not feature this cute but sad animation! No, it's not the best on looks, but it's quality is in the idea and portrayal of hope and determination. It's also her first attempt at something so big, so I commend her for doing so well on it.
And the last, well...
It may've been an accident completely intentional, view of something we don't regularly see.
Can't figure out what it's a photo of, because I'm an idiot It's a photo of a pool's lane line from below. And I just love -
love - the red and orange.
3.

The first: because it's got so much detail and it's still being added to! And I mean detail in multiple ways - detail in the rendering of their clothing, detail in expressions and posture which tell us a little about the characters without other info, the height-differences (it is a height chart, afterall) even between characters of the same race... And that's not even considering the fact that it contains 22 characters so far!
The second: I love her series of animal footers, they're so soft and adorable! But this one especially - the color, the pose, his mischievous expression... even the pattern behind him, they come together to form a wonderfully whimsical (and have I mentioned soft?) fox. Also, have I mentioned that she takes commissions? If you want something like this, check
here You'll thank me later.
And the third? It's a beautiful painting (yes a painting). I just love the warmth, and also the fact that it is soft and expressionistic. And other reasons, including those feathers, tattoos, and piercings. I can't even explain why looking at them makes me so happy. Cannot even.

So... I've been feeling kinda down lately, and it's affecting my work. Maybe getting this off my chest will help.
Recently, I made someone mad for "taking over" their characters in an RP... I'm sorry if I've done that to anyone else, and doubly sorry if I upset you with it.
But it's been bothering me - I'm in a couple OCTs and competition groups right now, and I've been wondering: Is it wrong to include other people's characters in my entries without specifically asking?
I don't know if its the same thing or not, and whether I should stop and get specific permission before moving on... But I've been working on my Hyperion Conference entry and finding myself paralyzed and unable to go forward. The goal is to depict a rugby match between your team (pre-assigned) and another team (also pre-assigned). Each team is made up of a group of trainers and their 'mon, and depicting multiple players is encouraged by the judges. Our team sorta got together and told what 'mon we would be using, and we also noted the other team with this info - so I assume it's alright to cameo them...
But the thought that I'm stepping on people's toes with my art still nags at me. I don't want to upset them...
And on a related note - what about gift-art/fan-art? If you absolutely adore a person's characters and those characters' stories, is it okay to go ahead and do fan-art/gift-art without the creator's permission? I mean, it's not like I'd be lying and trying to claim their ideas as my own - I just want to show my support and that I love their work!
So at the moment, I'm picking away at my entry and other projects, but it's taking much longer than I want it. I can't get motivated to do my best work... As such, a number of things are being put on hold for a bit - mostly the fan and gift-art.
P.S. Thanks to everybody who's faved my work or watched me recently - it's been a real confidence boost for me.
